Universities Contact Group

The Universities' Contact Group acts as a liaison point for the further development of relations and co-operation between International Organizations and training providers/universities. Organizations can thus inform universities of their requirements, shortages, etc. and universities can contribute to the professions. It has been generally agreed that more intensive and systematic contacts between the two constituencies would be mutually beneficial and that exchange of information should be increased.

UCG has two Co-Chairs representing international organisations and universities respectively. The chairs rotate every three to four years to ensure even representation between interpreting and translation/documentation sectors.

The current (2007-2011) Co-Chairs are:

● Helen Campbell – DG Interpretation SCIC, European Commission
● Svetlana Carsten – University of Leeds, the National Network for
Interpreting (Link to the National Network for Interpreting)
